Samsung Electronics have confirmed that it will be releasing it newest flagship device known as the Galaxy S7 on February 21. The device is expected to feature a 48-hour battery life and an optimized wireless charging pad.

According to International Business Times, a Russian tech blogger named Eldar Murtazin previously stated that the Galaxy S7 will be armed with a powerful battery. This will make the device capable of playing 17 hours of back-to-back videos on full brightness after a single charge.

Recently, Murtazin has posted an image on a social networking site saying the S7 will offer up to 48 hours of battery life after a single re-charge. Based on the photo, the screen-on time was about four and a half hours, while the brightness was somewhat set at 75 percent.

The Galaxy S7 might to be powered with a 3,000 mAh capacity battery unit, while its predecessor Galaxy S6 comes with a smaller 2,550 mAh cell. Nonetheless, the Galaxy S6 was able to provide up to 7 hours and 14 minutes of battery life in its custom test. In contrast, the 3,900 mAh battery clad Motorola DROID Turbo was able to stay up for 10 hours and 42 minutes.

In addition, the Galaxy S7 will run on Android 6.0 Marshmallow as it comes out of the box. This will offer the device an enhanced battery life because of the new Doze mode. With Marshmallow's Doze feature on board, the smartphones will be put to deep sleep and have the running applications at the background cut down when not in use.

Meanwhile, it was reported that a retailer in the U.K. has listed a wireless charging pad optimized for Samsung Galaxy S7 and its Edge variant. This gadget will be compatible with other devices that have support for the Qi standard. Also predicted to have a wireless charging feature, the microSD card slot and the removable battery could be brought back in the Galaxy S7.

Additionally, a 5.1-inch display, bundled with 1440p resolution, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 and Exynos 8890 chipsets are also expected from the unit. The chipset powering the smartphone will be decided based on the region of release.

As for its camera, it may be armed with a 12-megapixel BRITECELL rear-facing camera and a 5-megapixel secondary shooter. The Galaxy S7 is expected to arrive equipped with 64 GB of native storage space paired by 4 GB of RAM.

BREATHEcast stated on its article that Samsung's Galaxy S7 will carry the model number SM-G930 while the edge variant will have SM-935.

Both of these handsets are set to be released by Verizon, Sprint, AT&T, and T-Mobile carriers. However, the exact release schedules of the carrier versions are still yet to be confirmed. But with its nearing public debut, more updates should surface soon.
