Motorola has not yet released the official Android 6.0 Marshmallow to Verizon's Droid Turbo 2 phones. For those who cannot wait for the official upgrade however can now download and install a custom ROM based on Marshmallow for the device.
Before proceeding with the download and installation of the custom build, make sure to back up all necessary data from the phone using ClockWorkMod Recovery (CWMR) since the update will wipe out all data. Also, charge up the phone to at least 80 percent to prevent power interruption that might cause eternal damage to the phone.
Make sure as well that the phone has enough storage space for the new build. Finally, enable USB Debugging on the device. Droid Turbo 2 owners should be aware that installing custom ROM to the device will null or void its warranty.
Here's a quick guide to download and install the Marshmallow ROM for Droid Turbo 2:
1. Download Android 6.0 Marshmallow ROM and Google Apps Package.
2. Copy both files on the phone and computer.
3. Install the ROM Manager on the phone from Play Store.
4. Install ClockWorkMod Recovery or other allowable equivalent app.
5. Plug the phone to PC using a USB cable.
6. Copy the downloaded Marshmallow ROM to the phone's SD memory card.
7. Reboot phone in Recovery Mode through the ROM Manager.
8. Go to the ROM Manager.
9. Choose Back up/Restore.
10. Once in Recovery Mode, wipe all data.
11. Once completed, go back to Recovery Mode.
12. Select Flash ROM from SD Card.
13. Go to the file location of the downloaded Marshmallow ROM.
14. Install the ROM and follow on screen instructions.
15. Once completed, restart phone. Device should now run Android 6.0 Marshmallow.
Just like the official software, this custom Marshmallow build comes with Android Pay, battery saver app, fingerprint support and many more.
Meanwhile, in the past weeks, Motorola and Verizon had been in the hot seat following screen problems that have occurred in most Droid Turbo 2 units. This was not addressed immediately by the partner companies, making many device owners enraged.
Although some problems have subsided, many are still left groping in the dark as to when can the device manufacturer and the mobile operator can solve the problem. However, Motorola was reported before to be determined to push out the official Marshmallow build soonest.
