LG G4 on T-Mobile Finally Receives Android 6.0 Marshmallow Update: AT&T and Verizon Coming Up Next

By

T-Mobile has finally released the Android 6.0 Marshmallow via over-the-air (OTA) update to its LG G4 phones beginning yesterday. Remaining mobile carriers in the waiting list are AT&T and Verizon Wireless.

LG G4 phones of T-Mobile have just been updated to Android 6.0 Marshmallow yesterday and continues today. In less than a week, the magenta carrier is expected to complete the official rollout to its entire G4 population. While Sprint and US Cellular have already done with the update to the device, AT&T and Verizon are expected on the verge of releasing the upgrade in the coming days.

As February opened, Android 6.0 Marshmallow update went to Canadian G4 owners. Then, it was already reported that T-Mobile was coming up next before the month ends. Moreover, AT&T and Verizon, two of the biggest mobile operators in the United States, ironically will get behind Sprint, US Cellular and T-Mobile in software updates.

LG G4 phones of AT&T and Verizon are currently running on Android 5.1 Lollipop and were confirmed skipping the Android 5.1.1 Lollipop for Marshmallow. Although AT&T was expected to roll out first the update before T-Mobile, reports stated that the carrier has been making up to its G4 owners by releasing Marshmallow as soon as the first week of February.

Having released a Marshmallow track list for its devices, including G4, since October 2015, the progress of the T-Mobile has been deemed to sluggish. However,

Marshmallow was first released to the unlocked and retail G4 units in the US last December. Canadian carriers Telus, Rogers and Bell were the ones upfront in the country to update their G4 units. G4 was first tested in Poland with Marshmallow running before the software took off in South Korea and in some European nations.

Other LG devices updated to Android 6.0 Marshmallow, at least the unlocked versions, are G3, G Stylo and V10. Meanwhile, G Flex 2 phones are still waiting in the queue when to receive first Marshmallow.
