Sony is officially confirmed skipping the Android 5.1 Lollipop update to Xperia M4 Aqua phones and will proceed to Android 6.0 Marshmallow. Per new reports, Android 6.0 can be expected to come to the device over the air (OTA) by March 2016.

Sony Xperia M4 Aqua phones and its dual versions are slated to get the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update through OTA rollout. According to the list of Sony devices revealed last year, the new build will come in the first quarter of 2016. The timeframe has not yet lapsed which means Sony still have February and March to keep up to its promise.

It remains uncertain as of now however whether or not the company will still release the concept version of the software. Although the Marshmallow concept is stunning as reviewed and surveyed, many users would want the official build to come soon as it brings more packed features.

Android 6.0 Marshmallow will come with Sony's native features on top of the optimizations and improvement. In Sony's official blog site, it first revealed its roadmap plans for Marshmallow which also includes a bunch of other devices like Xperia Z5, Xperia Z5 Compact, Xperia Z5 Premium, Xperia Z4 Tablet, Xperia Z3+, Xperia Z3, Xperia Z3 Compact, Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact, Xperia Z2, Xperia Z2 Tablet, Xperia M5 and Xperia C4.

As known by many, Marshmallow features a new notification area, native fingerprint support, more comprehensive Android Pay, better app permissions and app links, simplified volume slide, floating window for text selection, custom Chrome tabs, system user interface tuner, RAM memory manager, USB Type-C and USB 3.1 support, screenshots options, microSD support, aps and settings backup, Google settings and Direct share.

The notification becomes more convenient with Marshmallow. Home to settings and alerts, users have the option now to organize all these through this section. On top of that, the notification also has a few tweaks. It still works with the two-step process. With one slide down, notifications will show up. Another slide down expands the area adding the Quick settings menu. The button for dismiss running apps looks quite different now.The priority notification settings is now in the Quick settings.
