LG continued rolling out the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update to G4 phones, this time in Canada. The Android 6.0 Marshmallow update is expected to come within this month on units under AT&T, T-Mobile and Verizon Wireless.
LG G4 units in the United States have been left hanging with the official over-the-air (OTA) roll out of Android 6.0 Marshmallow when it was cut from Sprint and US Cellular, while other major carriers are still stuck with Android 5.1 Lollipop. Accordingly, Marshmallow is set for release to G4 units of AT&T, T-Mobile and Verizon Wireless before February 2015 comes to an end.
AT&T is expected to continue the update in the US, while Verizon and T-Mobile shall come next. In the magenta carrier's Marshmallow track list, there has been no movement of software standing for LG G4 ince it was first posted in October 2015.
Android 6.0 was first rolled out to the unlocked version of G4 phones in the US during the last week of December 2015. Carriers in Canada followed mid-January 2016 with Telus being the first to do it on February 1. Rogers is expected to begin its update to G4 today while Bell has not announced anything yet. G4 was soaked test with Marshmallow in Poland before the official update was released to South Korea and Europe.
Other LG devices updated to Android 6.0 Marshmallow, at least the unlocked versions, are G3, G Stylo and V10. Although, there are carriers that were able to release the update to these devices, a huge number of the phone remains in Lollipop. Meanwhile, G Flex 2 phones are still waiting in the queue to receive first the Marshmallow update.
The new build brings in security patches for several issues on Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, MMS and camera. It also comes with a new and updated emoji collection on top of Marshmallow's native features.
