'The Girl on the Train' is an upcoming psychological thriller starring Emily Blunt in the lead role. The actress admitted that Rachel Watson is one of her most challenging roles. Meanwhile, Disney removed the film from its scheduled release date for October.

According to Deadline, Blunt has been cast to play the lead character Rachel Watson in the upcoming thriller film based on Paula Hawkins' novel of the same name. Blunt admitted that the new role will be the most challenging one she has ever done. She said that she was drawn to the new film because of the task to play a damaged woman.

She said, "I just love that it's about addiction and loneliness and voyeurism and what we think we see and don't see. I think it's very relatable... I love that your heroine, your lead character is the most unreliable witness in the world because she's a drunk. And yet she's right, and nobody believes her." She added that she never portrayed an outright drunk female lead before and it was something new.

Justin Theroux joins Blunt as her on-screen ex-husband Tom. Tom leaves Rachel for another woman whom he has a child with. According to the Daily Mail, the two had been spotted together on the filming set in Irvington, New York.

The film's plot revolves around Rachel, an alcoholic still reeling from her recent divorce, on her daily commute in NYC. She becomes obsessed with a dream couple she calls Jason and Jess, who she sees out the window every day. She eventually becomes entangled in a mystery after one day witnessing something shocking.

According to Comingsoon, Walt Disney Pictures removed 'The Girl on the Train' from its scheduled releases. It was originally slated to premiere in theaters on October 7, 2016. It was reported that the film will be handled and distributed by Universal Pictures instead and is likely to get a fall release.

'The Girl on the Train' is an upcoming psychological thriller directed by Tate Taylor based on a screenplay by Erin Cressida Wilson. It stars Blunt, Theroux, Rebecca Ferguson, Luke Evans, Laura Prepon, Edgar Ramirez, Allison Janey, Haley Bennett and Lisa Kudrow among others. It is based on Paula Hawkins' best-selling novel of the same name.
