‘X-Men: Apocalypse’ Spoilers: Evan Peters confirms identity of Quicksilver’s father; Michael Fassbender discusses role

'X-Men: Apocalypse' is an upcoming superhero film directed by Bryan Singer. Evan Peters, who plays Quicksilver in the series, revealed the identity behind his character's father. Michael Fassbender also talked about why Magneto decides to join the dark side in the upcoming film.

According to Uproxx, Peters revealed more details regarding his character Quicksilver including a father and son dynamic possibly at play in the new film. He said, "I have learned that he's my father at this point and I am trying to ... I don't know what I can say... Yeah. It's like an adoptive child or any kind of child who has a strange father trying to ... He knows who he is now so he is trying to find him. He's been searching for him. It's been 10 years and he hasn't found him and then something happens."

The father Peters is referring to is the powerful mutant supervillain Magneto played by Michael Fassbender. It was previously revealed that part of the new film's storyline will involve Quicksilver's search for his father.

In the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), Magneto is Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch's father. Magneto abandoned the twins' human mother and took the two with him to join the Brotherhood of Mutants, which he founded with partner Charles Xavier.

In the upcoming film, Magneto teams up with Oscar Isaac's evil Apocalypse and becomes one of his four horsemen. It may be possible that Magneto and Quicksilver's opposing loyalties will lend deeper conflicts between the two characters.

According to Lazy Gamer, Fassbender's Erik Lensherr a.k.a. Magneto starts off 'X-Men: Apocalypse' as a simple man living a simple life. Fassbender revealed, "....[Erik] has a family, has fallen in love, and has basically disappeared for the last eight years or so. He doesn't use his powers, has left that life behind and lives a sort of simple life." Magneto then decides that he appreciates Apocalypse's cause of bringing judgement day to Earth and turns over to the evil side.

Fassbender added, "...it's like that classic thing of joining any cult or radical group, he's caught him at a very low, vulnerable point where he doesn't really care anymore whether he dies or not or what happens, so he's like, 'Yeah I'll join this guy. I'll go on this path of judgment.'"

Magneto joins the iconic villainous group called the horsemen of Apocalypse that includes Angel, Storm, and Psylocke. According to Cinema Blend, they are nicknamed Famine, War, Pestilence and Death. They are the mutants recruited by the ancient and most powerful mutant to do his bidding.

'X-Men: Apocalypse' is an upcoming superhero film intended as the ninth installment in the live-action series based on Marvel's popular comic book characters, the 'X-Men'. It is scheduled to be released on May 27, 2016 and is directed by Bryan Singer based on the screenplay by Simon Kinberg.
