'Action Movie Kid' is a planned full-feature film based on the popular YouTube web series of the same name created by DreamWorks animator Daniel Hashimoto. The series has also been adapted into a children's book published last year. Andrew Dodge of 'Bad Words' fame will be writing the film's screenplay.

According to Tube Filter, the viral web series 'Action Movie Kid' will be adapted into a full-feature film produced by Temple Hill and distributed by Fox 2000. Daniel Hashimoto, a DreamWorks animator and visual-effects artist, created the series with his son James as the main character.

Hashimoto worked on several animated films such as 'Kung Fu Panda 3' and 'How To Train Your Dragon', according to /Film. The animator decided to play around with some videos of his four-year old son not knowing the full potential of his work.

The series, posted on Youtube, features James in home movie clips enhanced with special effects that allow him to go on stunts that no ordinary child can do. Each episode is complete with superhero action reminiscent of any blockbuster film.

As of the present, the 'Action Movie Kid' channel has close to 500,000 subscribers and over millions of views. The first ever video called 'Action Movie Kid - Vol 01' was uploaded almost two years ago. It featured effects one would see on 'The Matrix' series, as well as explosions, lava and light sabers.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Andrew Dodge has been hired to work on the new film's script. Dodge is best known for penning the screenplay for 'Bad Words', a 2014 black comedy film directed by Jason Bateman.

The web series was also adapted into a children's book published by Simon & Schuster. The book, written by Hashimoto and Mandy Richardville and illustrated by Valerio Fabbretti, was published in May 2015. It followed a regular boy who fights monsters using his imagination.

'Action Movie Kid' is a planned adaptation of the popular YouTube web series of the same name. It was created by Daniel Hashimoto and will be produced by Temple Hill's Marty Bowen and Wyck Godfrey. Fox 2000 will handle distribution, with Nikki Ramey and Erin Siminoff overseeing for the company.
