'The Conjuring 2: The Enfield Poltergeist' is an upcoming supernatural horror film intended as a sequel to the 2013 film 'The Conjuring'. It is directed by James Wan and stars Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga. The film's first official trailer has recently been released.

According to Variety, New Line Cinema recently unveiled the newest official trailer for James Wan's much-anticipated horror film intended as the sequel to his 2013 blockbuster hit 'The Conjuring'. The film is set in Enfield, England in 1977. It follows Ed and Lorraine Warren as they try to solve another paranormal mystery at a council house in Enfield.

The first trailer features everything creepy including rotating crucifixes, shadowy figures and bleak landscapes. Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga reprise their roles as Ed and Lorraine, respectively, and travel to England to examine a case of poltergeist activity at a local council house.

The sequel was originally scheduled to premiere on October 23, 2015 but was delayed due to strategic business changes by Warner Bros. and New Line. According to Nerd Reactor, the studios decided it would be better to have the film's release on June 10, 2016 to make use of prime summer sales just like in the first film.

Its predecessor, released on July 19, 2013, earned a staggering $318 million against a $20 million budget. It broke records as the biggest opening for an original R-rated film previously dominated by 'The Purge'.

Wan returned to write and direct the sequel with the screenplay co-written by David Leslie Johnson, Chad Hayes and Carey Hayes. Principal photography began in California on September 21, 2015 and was moved to London on November. Filming ended on December 1 of the same year.

According to Uproxx, 'The Conjuring 2: The Enfield Poltergeist' is allegedly based on the true-to-life events of the Enfield hauntings. They were a series of investigations conducted by the Warrens in the 1970s, particularly from 1977 to 1979, in London Borough of Enfield. It involved the haunting of two young sisters.

'The Conjuring 2: The Enfield Poltergeist' is an upcoming supernatural horror film scheduled to be released on June 10, 2016. It stars Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga as Ed and Lorraine Warren, real-life paranormal investigators famous for their contributions to the field of the supernatural. It also features Simon McBurney, Franka Potente and Frances O'Connor.
