New 'Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice' photos have been released in Empire's January issue featuring Henry Cavill and Ben Affleck as Superman and Batman, respectively. Director Zack Snyder reportedly asked for Christopher Nolan's blessing to use Batman as a villain in his new film.
The newest exclusive photographs from the upcoming clash between two of DC's mightiest superheroes have been unveiled in the Empire Magazine's January issue. It featured Henry Cavill's Clark Kent a.k.a. Superman and Ben Affleck's Bruce Wayne a.k.a. Batman.
Producer Charles Roven dropped some hints regarding Affleck's new character. He said, "[Batman] is not giving people a chance... He is more than a vigilante. He has become not only the cop, if you will, he has also become the jury and executioner."
Roven explained that Affleck's version of the caped crusader is markedly different from Christian Bale's interpretation in Christopher Nolan's 'The Dark Knight' stating that Affleck's Batman is older, tougher and angrier.
Nolan's 'Dark Knight' trilogy aimed at a more realistic and more humanistic tone for the live-action adaptation of the DC comics superhero. He relied on more traditional stunts instead of exploiting special effects for Bale's Batman. The series went on to earn critical and commercial acclaim.
It was reported by Coming Soon that director Zack Snyder had to ask for Nolan's blessing to use Batman in a somewhat antagonistic role for 'Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.' When asked if he could turn Batman into a villain of sorts, Nolan simply replied, "Well, we don't own these characters. When you're done making Batman movies, someone else will [make them]."
Meanwhile, Cavill also talked about his version of Superman saying that it is much easier to play his role this time around compared to 2013's 'Man of Steel'. According to Cinema Blend, Cavill explained, "He's more used to this gig, doing his best to save as many lives as he can. He is no longer frantic. He's no longer a wet behind the ears kind of superhero." However, Superman will be facing more dangerous foes in the sequel including Lex Luthor, Doomsday and even Batman.
'Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice' is an upcoming sequel to 2013's 'Man of Steel' and is intended as the second installment in the DC shared universe. It is directed by Zack Snyder based on a screenplay by Chris Terrio and David Goyer. It is scheduled to be released on March 25, 2016.
