LG G3 Android 6.0 Marshmallow on Verizon: How Is the Update So Far

By

Verizon Wireless rolling out first the official over-the-air (OTA) update of Android 6.0 Marshmallow to LG G3 seemed to be the most unlikely thing to happen in the Android community. So far though, Verizon did put on a big surprise to its G3 owners by not just bringing in the standard Marshmallow features, but a whole bunch of native ones.

Verizon took the lead in the LG G3 Android 6.0 Marshmallow race as the largest mobile operator in the United States has begun releasing the new build to the device yesterday. The news broke when a G3 owner named Jrdnram_98 of Verizon Wireless took Reddit to announce a surprising update on his device. Despite many shrugged it off, the news eventually was confirmed by other G3 owners of Verizon when they also began receiving the update.

As of now, the Android 6.0 OTA update to these devices continues to roll out to other devices as the update came in stages. The update comes with the build number MRA58K and software version VS98546A. Through a screen shot by the said user, it was confirmed that the update was indeed official. Also, the update brought security patch for January 2016.

Marshmallow has already been rolled out to some units of G4, G Flex 2, G Stylo and V10.

Android 6.0 Marshmallow was reported bringing a bunch of its native features to G3 on top of the standard Doze Mode, Now on Tap, Direct Share, simpler volume controls and others.

Doze Mode screens phone and puts into a deep sleep when unused to prolong battery life. Now on Tap brings Google Now to better functionality by giving more relevant and accurate recommendations.

With Direct Share, users can easily and conveniently share photos, links, news, files, etc. with selected contacts. Volume controls for ringtone and media have been made simpler.
