'Bourne 5' is an upcoming spy-thriller film in the 'Bourne' franchise. Alicia Vikander joins returning cast members Matt Damon and Julia Stiles as an "action-driven" female lead. The actress also took home the Critics' Choice Award for Best Supporting Actress for her role on 'The Danish Girl'.

According to Cinema Blend, Vikander will star opposite Matt Damon in the upcoming installment in the 'Bourne' cinematic franchise. Julia Stiles will reportedly reprise her role as Nicky Parsons and Viggo Mortensen is speculated to take on a villain role. Vikander is the latest to fill the female lead after former leading ladies Franka Potente and Rachel Weisz.

During an interview with The Wrap, the 27-year old Swedish actress was asked to elaborate more on her yet unnamed character. She replied, "I'm not doing the conventional action but I'm very action-driven in this film... But it's not in the way most people would think." She went on to tease filming locations including some parts of Europe, Washington D.C. and Las Vegas.

Vikander admitted that although she had never met Matt Damon before she joined the new film, she was always a big fan. She added, "He's very funny on set and then he's just extremely cool as Bourne, but we all know that."

Meanwhile, according to The Daily Mail, the breakout star took home the Critics' Choice Award for Best Supporting Actress for her role in the biographical drama film 'The Danish Girl'. She played the character Gerda Wegener alongside Eddie Redmayne's Einar Wegener/Lili Elbe.

Upon accepting the award, she said, "I was very happy and extremely grateful when I was invited to shed light and bring light to a story, which I think all of us thought was very moving, but also very important to tell, about two very pioneering women who went on a big journey together... I want to thank Eddie Redmayne who was my partner on this. He's a wonderful actor but also my best support throughout this shoot."

Vikander is best known for her roles in films such as 'Anna Karenina', 'A Royal Affair' and 'Ex Machina', where she was nominated for a Golden Globe Award for Best Supporting Actress in a Motion Picture. Her latest projects include 'The Man from U.N.C.L.E.', 'Burnt', 'Tulip Fever' and 'The Light Between Oceans'.

'Bourne 5' is a yet unnamed spy-thriller film starring Matt Damon and Alicia Vikander. It is intended as the fifth film in the popular series of novels by Robert Ludlum. It is scheduled to be released on July 29, 2016 and directed by Paul Greengrass.
