'Transformers 5' is an upcoming science-fiction film starring Mark Wahlberg as Cade Yeager. Michael Bay confirmed his return as director for the sequel and will be filming in Chicago once more. Bay claimed that this will be his last film in the franchise.

According to the Chicago Tribune, Bay will return to helm the newest installment in the 'Transformers' franchise. It has also been confirmed that he will film in Chicago sometime in 2016 ahead of the planned 2017 release date. When asked if he will start production in Michigan Avenue again, he replied, "No, we're gonna find a new street... But I love Chicago."

All films in the highly popular franchise - from 2007's original 'Transformers' to 2014's 'Transformers: Age of Extinction' were helmed by Bay. According to TimeOut, filming for the battle scenes in 2011's 'Transformers: Dark of the Moon' largely took place around Michigan Avenue and Wacker Drive. 'Transformers: Age of Extinction' also contained local Chicago landmarks including Willis Tower, Cloud Gate in Millenium Park and Chicago City Hall.

According to Time.com, Bay expressed his need to move on from the franchise in previous interviews so it came as a surprise that he would return for a fifth time.

He said, "I'm doing Transformers ... 5, is it?... Transformers, I still have a great time. It's fun to do a movie that 100 million people will see. But this is the last one. I have to pass the reins to someone else... [I]t's time to move on. One more." Bay directed Shia LaBeouf in the first three films and Mark Wahlberg in the fourth and fifth installments.

Bay is best known for his work on several high-budget blockbuster action-thriller films. He is also famous for his extensive use of special effects, trademark visuals and explosions as well as fast-paced action scenes. The 50-year old filmmaker served as director and producer for films such as 'Armageddon', 'Pearl Harbor', 'Friday the 13th', 'The Purge' and the most recent '13 Hours: The Secret Soldiers of Benghazi'.

'Transformers 5' is an upcoming action-adventure and science-fiction film directed by Michael Bay based on a screenplay by Akiva Goldsman. Mark Wahlberg and Peter Cullen will reprise their roles as Cade Yeager and Optimus Prime, respectively. The fifth film is scheduled to be released in June 2017.
