‘Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2 release date on June 3rd; Tyler Perry talks playing villain Baxter Stockman

'Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows' is an upcoming 3D action-comedy film directed by Dave Green. Tyler Perry has been cast as the villainous mad scientist Baxter Stockman. The actor talked more details on playing the character as well as discussed the lack of diversity at the recent Oscars.

According to IGN, Perry revealed that he had always wanted to be part of the live-action adaptation of the series featuring the iconic mutant turtle foursome.

He told reporters at the 2016 Television Critics Association press tour, "That was super fun and the movie was super fun. I saw the last one and I thought, 'I want to be a part of this.' I also wanted to give my son, who just turned 1, a different idea of what an actor is, and not just me playing Madea... He's too young to see Gone Girl, so he'll be able to see the Ninja Turtles, and then maybe I'll do something else for him."

The 46-year old American actor played Tanner Bolt in the 2014 suspense-thriller 'Gone Girl'. He also best known for creating and portraying a tough, towering elderly woman named Madea with the character's first appearance on big screen on 'Diary of a Mad Black Woman'.

He is set to play the villainous yet brilliant scientist Baxter Stockman in the upcoming TMNT sequel, according to /Film. In the original comic books, Baxter is an ally to Shredder that transforms into a cyborg or a fly mutant that causes his mental health to deteriorate.

Perry revealed that Baxter will not transform into a fly using special effects. He said, "Actually just a crazy wig and glasses so that's pretty exciting." He admitted that he had to do some research for his newest role.

Meanwhile, Perry was one to voice out his impressions on the lack of diversity in the recent Academy Awards. According to The Global Dispatch, he said that the only way to solve the Oscar controversy was to show actual numbers and voting statistics.

He commented, "Rather than saying who votes, I don't want to know who voted and how they voted, I'd just like to see the numbers... That's what my interest would be. What are the votes? I don't think it's racism. I don't think it's madness. Just what are the votes and how does that go? Let's get that information."

'Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows' is an upcoming 3D action-comedy film scheduled to be released on June 3, 2016. It is directed by Dave Green based on a screenplay by Josh Appelbaum and Andre Nemec. It will star Perry, Megan Fox, Stephen Amell, Will Arnett, Laura Linney and Brian Tee among others.
