HTC has officially spoken one more time about the release of Android 6.0 Marshmallow to One M9 phones. According to its latest revelation, One M9 will begin receiving the update on January 21, 2015. But which country?
HTC One M9 phone in United Kingdom will be the first batch to receive the official over-the-air release of Android 6.0 Marshmallow come January 21. The official announcement came via Twitter account of HTC UK.
The tweet read: "Great news! We'll be rolling out the Marshmallow update for the HTC One M8 over the next 48 hours. One M9 to follow shortly." This tweet was posted last January 18 at 8:28 in the evening.
On top of this good news, HTC underscored that release of the update to HTC One M9 units in the United States will come shortly after in the British region. Further, the Taiwanese giant did not mention as to when the update would come to mobile carrier versions of One M9 in the US.
In Canada, One M9 units of Telus are now live receiving the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update.
Android 6.0 Marshmallow comes in with optimizations on battery management, controls and Google Now.
Marshmallow brings in Doze, a power-saving feature. This mode works by putting an idle into a sleep state to control consumption. The device would know that it is already idle with the help of motion sensors. Additionally, app standby limits the impact of seldom used apps from draining battery life.
The new build also offers greater controls. One of them is related to app permissions. With Marshmallow, users accessing something in an app will be asked for permissions to allow or deny an action at the point of use and not at the installation. It can also be turned off any time.
