‘Final Fantasy XV’ updates & gameplay: Details of upcoming game’s difficulty settings and battle mechanics explained by developers

Game designers currently working on Square Enix's upcoming entry for the "Final Fantasy" franchise explained how the title's difficulty levels and combat mechanics will actually work. According to the developers, FFXV has been designed to accommodate different styles of gameplay.

According to a post on the forum page for "Final Fantasy XV," the game's lead designer Takizawa Masashi confirmed that the title will feature two difficulty settings. The first will be for gamers who want fast-paced action, while the second one is designed for a more steady battle sequence.

"The equivalent to difficulty level settings in FFXV is a system where you can switch between different battle modes," Masashi said in response to a gamer's question.

"By having this ability to switch modes, we want to make it so that both players who like action oriented, technical gameplay and also those who want to fight at a slower, more relaxed pace can all enjoy the combat in their own style," he added.

Masashi then said that the decision to incorporate two settings in the game was made based on the feedback from people who were able to try out the demo "Final Fantasy XV: Episode Duscae." The designer thenstated that other major details regarding this gameplay feature will be unveiled as the FFXV nears its official release.

As for the other features of the game, Siliconera reported that it could include aerial battles. This is according to Terada Takefumi, the lead level designer of FFXV.

He briefly talked about aerial battles while discussing the game's warp system. As noted by the gaming designer, this feature will allow gamers to teleport from one place to another in the game's map. Takefumi then said that aside from this warping feature, which will play a strategic role in the game's fight sequences, Square Enix is also working on including air-based fights in the game.

The studio nor the developers did not mention a possible release date for "Final Fantasy XV" but the game is still scheduled to come out this year. As previously clarified by Square Enix, the game will not come out for the PC and will only come out for the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 platforms.
