‘Final Fantasy 15’ updates: No PC version planned for upcoming title? Game could debut with ‘Persona 5’ next year

By

Hajime Tabata, the director of the upcoming "Final Fantasy 15," confirmed that development studio Square Enix is currently not planning on launching the game for the Microsoft Windows platform. The game director made the announcement during the recent Comic Fiesta convention held in Malaysia.

Based on Tabata's statements, it seems fans of the long-running "Final Fantasy" series can only expect to see the game on their consoles. He explained that gamers may have misunderstood what Square Enix previously said regarding the development of the early versions of the game. Tabata also said that it will take a lot of work to create a PC port of the game which is why the studio currently has no plans of developing one, Gamepur reported.

"There will be no PC port," he said during the event. "We never planned for it. The game is originally developed on the PC first and what we said was how the pre-beta works very smoothly on the PC and now optimizations are being made for the consoles. Please don't misunderstand."

As noted by Attack of the Fanboy, the developers' move to snub the PC for the release of the game seems rather unconventional given the fact that previous titles from the series were also released on this platform alongside their console counterparts. Also, for the past few months, Square Enix has been busy launching PC ports of old "Final Fantasy" games.

But for now, it seems "Final Fantasy 15" will only be available for the Xbox One and PlayStation 4. It is not yet clear when it will come out but the developers said that the game will debut sometime in 2016.

According to Dual Shockers, Square Enix recently conducted a survey asking gamers which between "Persona 5" and "Final Fantasy 15" will they buy first if both titles arrived on the same date. Although the first two options respectively referred to the two games, the third choice simply stated "I'll buy both."

If majority of the respondents chose the third option, then there's a strong possibility that Square Enix will debut "Persona 5" and "Final Fantasy 15" at the same time. This means the latter could come out during the second or third quarter of 2016 since this is the projected release window of the former.
