HTC One ME & Butterfly 3 Up Next for Android 6.0 Marshmallow Release

By

HTC has been working diligently to wrap up Android 6.0 Marshmallow developments for its smartphones to proceed with the testing stage. One ME and Butterfly 3 are the lucky smartphones reported up next for the biggest Android upgrade in history.

HTC One ME and Butterfly 3 smartphones are officially bound for the Android 6.0 Marshmallow upgrade in the first quarter of 2016. New speculations pointed out that the 2015 mid-range smartphones will get a new software running before January comes to an end.

Both smartphones were first confirmed last year to receive the update in the fourth quarter of 2015, particularly in December. However, the new update did not push through.

Both smartphones have a 5.2 inch display with 1440 x 2560 pixels, 20 MP main camera and 3 GB of RAM. One ME is powered by MT6795 Helio X10 chipset with a non-removable 2,840 mAh battery and a 4 MP front camera. Butterfly 3 is powered by Snapdragon 810 chipset with a non-removable 2,700 mAh battery and a 13 MP front camera.

One ME and Butterfly 3 will receive the Sense 7.0 user interface of HTC on top of the original set of features of Marshmallow. Per changelog seen on unlocked One M8 versions, Sense 7.0 UI will bring the device an almost similar look to One A9's interface.

Sense 7.0 gets a flatter and simpler design, new icons, new themes app, new notification panel, updated system apps, improved home screen, new widgets, more effective battery management, better settings menu, new app permissions control, new lock screen, plus several other improvements and bug fixes.

Marshmallow's native features include a redesigned app drawer, more convenient notification area, Google Now on Tap, Doze mode, fingerprint support, app links, simplified volume slide, floating window for text selection, custom Chrome tabs, system user interface tuner, RAM memory manager, USB Type-C and USB 3.1 support, new screenshots options, microSD support, aps and settings backup, Google settings and direct share.
