CES 2016: LG Launches 4 Credit Card-Thin OLED G6 TV Alongside Gigantic 98-Inch SuperUltra HD 8K Screen

By

LG announced the Ultra-Thin OLED G6 TV which measures four credit cards thick during the Consumer Electronics Show 2016. The South Korean tech also launched its gigantic 98-inch SuperUltra HD 8K screen.

PC Magazine reported that almost all of the product and series announcements at CES are for one type of device. A company will publicize an HDTV, a speaker, a washing machine, or a tablet. LG Electronics, however, has avoided that kind of strategy by unveiling the LG Signature. This is the company's cross-category premium brand that combines home electronics and appliances.

The LG Signature products- the first of which include an HDTV, fridge, washing machine, and air purifier are stark and stylish. These devices are designed by Torsten Valeur, master designer of the line and president of David Lewis.

One of the HDTV that the South Korean tech company unveiled is the Ultra-Thin OLED G6. According to International Business Times, this device is in-line with the upscale and elegant appliances called LG Signature. To attain the TV's slim fit, LG used an OLED display. This technology lets the screen create its own colors without the need for a backlight, removing a lot of bulk from the TV's frame.

David VanderWaal, LG senior marketing leader, stated that "LG Signature delivers a perfect picture of OLED TV on an elegant, glass body." He also added "Quite literally, ladies and gentlemen, it's picture on glass."

Down below, the G6 sits on a large, forward-facing speaker sound bar. LG said that this part of the TV was included to make sure that customers do not have to sacrifice sound in exchange for the thin and stylish TV screen.

As the speakers pointing forward, not downward like many thin TVs, viewers will be able to hear clean, detailed audio without any distortion and reflection. The sound bar system is armed with extra woofers to boost the power of the speakers, setting LG OLED TVs apart from other stylish, ultra-thin TVs.

The G6 is schedule to go on sale later this year and will be available in both 65 and 77-inch screen sizes. There is still no firm price point and a release date hasn't been announced by LG Electronics.

Aside from the Ultra-thin OLED G6, Daily Mail said on its article that LG also revealed its range of super UHD TVs. The South Korean tech claims it provides the most advanced LCD/LED picture quality ever. Features include High Dynamic Range (HDR), delivering better picture and sound quality and improved color capabilities.

Among the screens was a giant, 98-inch UH9800, which has HDR, as well as 8K resolution. For those who are unfamiliar, HDR that is short for high dynamic range, improves a TV's contrast ratio and color accuracy to make footage appear more realistic. The 98-inch 8K Super UHD TV will begin shipping in the second half of 2016.

The products under the LG Signature can be a good option for the consumers who are looking for OLED and Super UHD TVs. The G6 will be made available later this year and the 98-inch SuperUltra HD 8K will be out in the market second quarter of 2016.
