'Reign' Season 3 Mid-Season Finale airs Jan. 22; Will Mary resist her feelings for Gideon and marry for Scotland's advantage?

Adelaide Kane admitted that she wanted to play a role that is different from her character in "Reign" Season 3. Plus, the official synopsis for episode 8 as well as the mid-season finale have been revealed.

"Reign" star Adelaide Kane spoke with Yahoo! News about planning to portray a different character this 2016. Kane revealed that after 3 years of playing Mary, the queen of Scots, she wanted to try a modern role where she doesn't need to wear heavy gowns and tiaras. She wants to experience wearing shirts and jeans in her next role.

As for the official plot of Reign Season 3 episode 8, The Futon Critic wrote, "Mary (Adelaide Kane) realizes she must marry for the good of Scotland. As Mary and Catherine (Megan Follows) deal with the aftermath of Prince Don Carlos (guest star Mark Ghanime) accident, Mary realizes that she will have to marry for the good of her country and not follow her heart. When Catherine is accused of poisoning Francis (Toby Regbo), Lola (Anna Popplewell) is shocked when Mary thinks Narcisse (Craig Parker) framed Catherine in order to become Regent of France."

Moreover, regarding the official spoilers for the series mid-season premiere, Carter Matt details that Mary will be having a hard time to resist her feelings for Gideon (Ben Geurens) as she works with her political allies. Elizabeth (Rachel Skarsten) and Greer (Celina Sinden) also find themselves in a similar situation. Elsewhere, Catherine and Narcisse continue their struggle over the Regency while Claude (Rose Williams) suddenly fights for her life on her wedding night.

"Reign" Season 3 Episode 8 is entitled as "The Undoing" while the mid-season premiere (episode 10) is entitled as "Bruises That Lie". The upcoming eighth episode is scheduled to air on Friday, January 8, 2016 while the mid-season finale is set January 22, 2016 at 8:00 p.m. exclusively on The CW. "Reign" is an American historical fantasy romance TV series created by Stephanie SenGupta and Laurie McCarthy. The storyline follows the years of Mary, Queen of Scots, living in France.
