The Samsung Galaxy J1 that was launched February last year is rumored to be having a second generation device dubbed as Samsung J1 2016. This handset was recently imported in India for testing.
According to MakTechBlog, the South Korean tech company has imported Samsung Galaxy J1 2016 SM-J120 in India for testing purposes. The listing reveals that the upcoming handset will come with a 4.5 inch screen. Looking at the import price, Samsung Galaxy J1 2016 SM-J120 is expected to be a budget smartphone that is priced nearly its predecessor at Rs. 8,000.
Aside from the 4.5-inch screen size, Christian Today cited other features that are expected to be present on Samsung Galaxy J1 2016. This device will sport a WVGA screen with 480 x 800 pixel resolution, and will be engineered by an Exynos 3457 processor and quad-core CPU. The phone will also arrive with an 8 GB built-in memory and 1G B of RAM.
The Samsung Galaxy J1 2016 camera will be maintained at 5 MP for the main and 2 MP at the front. It still has the same dual-sim slot feature and a microSD card slot for memory expansion of up to 128 GB. The next J1 smartphone will run on Android 5.1.1 Lollipop as it comes out of the box.
The leaked photos of the 2016 edition of the Samsung Galaxy J1 show no major changes on the physical appearance of the handset, but sizing wise, it is a little bigger than the 2015 version.
Another photo of the back portion with the battery removed shows the serial number SM-J120F, and some manufacturing details like how it is made in Vietnam by Samsung.
Additionally, Vine Report stated on its article that The Samsung Galaxy J1 2016 has been certified by the U.S. Federal Communication Commission or the FCC, carrying the same model number of SM-J120F. The appearance of the device in the FCC database strongly hints that the device is set to launch in the U.S. at some point in the future.
In the meantime, further announcements are underway regarding the 2016 version of Samsung J1.
