It was August this year when the Chinese tech giant OnePlus unveiled its OnePlus 2. Now, the company is expected to launch the next generation of the handset same month next year.
According to Vine Report, OnePlus has been slowly sneaking its way to join in the mix of other established brands through the releases of OnePlus One, Oneplus 2, OnePlus X and if speculations are to be believed, a OnePlus 3 is already in the pipeline.
The Chinese smartphone maker's turnaround is fairly fast considering that the handheld devices it has released belong to one lineup. OnePlus would have to continue improving and enhancing the previously launched handset for its successor to gain enough momentum to hit targeted goals.
Meanwhile, Ecumenical News cited some of the rumored specs OnePlus 3 might have. The casing of this handset has a smooth metal black coating and a mirrored display screen. The display resolution is believed to be at 1080p but there are talks that it is still unclear if OnePlus will adopt the new 1440p resolution, which will surely serve as a big break for the phone's display feature. Despite this, it is likely to stick with the same screen size of a5.5-inch.
There are also rumors saying that OnePlus 3 will house Qualcomm's latest Snapdragon 820, which is a 64-bit octa-core processor. However, many are hoping that it won't have the same overheating issues like the Snapdragon 810 installed in OnePlus 2. Another feature that the OnePlus 3 might sport is the Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0 as well as a 3,300mAh battery which is capable of wireless charging.
OnePlus 3 is anticipated to have a fingerprint scanner as many phones do, but based on the leaked photos, there is an opportunity that the security feature won't make it.The phone might have the retina scanner to replace it though. The OnePlus 3's predecessor doesn't have an expandable memory but now, many are expecting this handset to have a microSD card slot.
As for the OnePlus 3's price, Pocket-lint reported that the OnePlus One cost £230 when it first launched, while the OnePlus 2 starts at £239 and £289 for the larger storage capacity. With this, it is expected that the OnePlus 3 will stay within a similar price bracket. It will be a surprise if the price would over the £300 mark but it isn't going to be any less than £230. The starting price is predicted to be around £250 for the OnePlus 3, give or take a few pounds.
These are merely speculations though. Specific details regarding the upcoming OnePlus 3 are expected to surface as its predicted August debut nears.
