LG Electronics has ventured out the trends in flexible and bendable smartphones. Now, the South Korean phone manufacturer is speculated to be starting its journey on creating a new curved device.
According an article by Ubergizmo, when it comes to smartphones with curved displays, the South Korean phone maker has a couple of such devices, like the LG G Flex and the G Flex 2. It is really obvious that neither of the devices has been considered a hit, at least not matched to Samsung's Edge series of smartphones with curved side displays. Nevertheless, it seems that LG might give it another shot as a new curved phone is reportedly in the works.
Based on a tweet by Evan Blass aka @evleaks, LG is working on a curved smartphone which maybe the LG G Flex 3 or something similar. The source stated that this time, the display will actually curve and wrap over the top of the device. It is a bit hard to visualize what it could look like though, but smartphone enthusiasts predict it to look just like the Samsung Edge phone, except that its display curves over the top and not the sides.
Phones Review reported that Evan Blass' tweet has given no name or specifications of the device apart from its curved feature. This can be an interesting approach to take, and it makes smartphone enthusiasts to think they may do something with notifications. The LG V10 has its own exclusive notification setup at the top and they could just curve it around to the back for a light up notification system of sorts.
However, Latin Post added that the design of the curve over the top LG phone could be a little awkward. It might make it difficult for phone case makers to design a case that would protect the screen.
Despite this, it was reported earlier that there is no LG G Flex smartphone planned for 2016. LG, perhaps, will not make any announcements on their next phone until the Consumer Electronics Show in January.
It is yet to be seen if the speculated LG unit actually exists or if it will be the third generation of the LG G Flex. One thing is for certain though: fans are going to see more curved edges next year and hopefully, the first ever smartphone with a flexible display.
