Fans all over the world have been waiting for six long years for Avatar 2, and apparently director James Cameron is leaving no room for inferiority in making his Avatar sequels. The director has been working very hard in developing the scripts for three Avatar sequels while Avatar 2 is now in production.

James Cameron is now working with creative writers Rick Jaffa, Shane Salerno, Amanda Silver, and Josh Friedman. The three scripts were expected to be completed this year however the Academy award-winning director stated that they still need more polishing.

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, the director said, "I'm in the process of doing another pass through all three scripts right now." He added that he is currently working with the design process and that it is ripe for harvest at this point. "The design process is very mature at this point. We've been designing for about a year and a half. All the characters, settings and creatures are all pretty much [set]."

The director also admitted that Avatar 2 makes him feel more anxious and he wanted to make sure that his first film wasn't just some big fluke. His first Avatar film suffered some difficulties towards its journey to the big screen. There were cost over-runs, production delays, and studio bosses second-guessing the director's technological demands. Not to mention Twentieth Century Fox almost backed out on a deal to make the film at all.

The movie Avatar won several awards like Best Visual Effects and Best Cinematography at the 2010 Academy Awards. The film grossed more than $2.7 billion in worldwide box office, which is a record-setting amount of money that ushered in a new era of 3-D movies.

Avatar 2 is scheduled to be released in December 2017, with Avatar 3 in December 2018, and Avatar 4 in December 2019. Sigourney Weaver and Stephen Lang will still appear in Avatar 2 despite the deaths of their characters in the original film. Meanwhile, the sequels storyline will be centered on both Neytiri (Zoe Saldana) and Jake Sully (Sam Worthington).
