While Ridley Scott is busy filming 'Alien: Covenant', director Denis Villeneuve has done directing the action thriller movie Sicario. He has been reported to helm the most awaited sci-fi classic, 'Blade Runner 2' movie. However, Villeneuve revealed his disappointment for the movie.
Blade Runner director expressed his frustration on not being able to direct the sequel of his classic sci-fi film. The forthcoming sequel, Blade Runner 2 is difficult to make for the director at the moment since he is attached to direct Alien: Covenant.
Indeed the iconic director said in an interview that he is very disappointed since he's been aching to get behind the camera of the long awaited Blade Runner 2. He expressed his lack of involvement in the Blade Runner 2, as a 'bit of a bugger.'
The director told the Screen in an interview, "We wanted to get this [Blade Runner sequel] made... If you get it on paper, don't wait. I had to let it go, which was a bit of a bugger but there we are."
Despite of not being able to direct Blade Runner 2 and being only two years shy of his 80th birthday, Ridley Scott shows no sign of retiring. He said, "What am I going to do? Walk the dogs? Love dogs. Lo-ove my dogs. But that's only good for half an hour."
He also revealed more details about his latest film, Alien: Covenant and explained that it will pick up where Prometheus (2012) ended and says that xenomorph will still be around the film. It is also said that it will be the first chapter of a potential Alien origins trilogy.
Blade Runner 2 is expected to have the same neo-noir atmosphere as that of its predecessor. Without Ridley Scott's artistic touch, can Denis Villeneuve do justice to the film? Can he beat or at least match such masterpiece?
