A New Orleans court has ruled to upheld the decision that Muslim inmates in Texas prison should be allowed to wear a knit skullcap and grow a beard, as the religion requires them to. A judge wrote an appeal that the ban on beard and religious headwear violates a 2015 U.S. Supreme Court ruling in a previous case in Arkansas.

Campaigners for ‘Adult Use of Marijuana Act’ have so far collected 600,000 signatures from Californian voters till Wednesday. The proposed law aims to legalize recreational use of marijuana with certain terms and conditions. State officials have predicted for a $1 billion tax revenue earning, if the proposed law gets implemented.

The US Department of Justice has issued letter on Wednesday warning the North Carolina state government of violating Civil Rights Act through the newly approved HB2. The notification appears to be the first federal intervention over the on-going debate on LGBT peoples’ rights.
