Following is a text of the prepared remarks by President Barack Obama for his annual State of the Union address on Tuesday.

On July 17, 1996, a Paris bound TWA Flight 800 exploded and crashed into the waters off Long Island, New York, killing all 230 people on board. After a four-year investigation, the National Transportation Security Board concluded the plane was destroyed by a center fuel tank explosion likely caused by a spark from faulty wiring.

Kathleen Dorsett, the 38-year-old former third-grade teacher and her parents pleaded guilty on Thursday to working together in an effort to kill her ex-husband, in a convoluted murder plot executed by her father Thomas. They also attempted to murder his mother. The father and daughter told a judge they were angry about the divorce decree and custody arrangements for the couple's daughter, who was 20 months old.
