The Oakland Police has taken down their press release for the Cinco de Mayo and apologized after citizens deemed it culturally insensitive. Previously planned efforts to combat DUI were also cancelled for the celebration. No reason for the cancellation of the extra DUI patrols were revealed.

Riley McDermott, former assistant coach at Anderson University pleaded guilty on several counts of DUI with death and DUI with injury pressed against him. McDermott, who denied some of his rights, was emotional during the sentencing.
A suspected drunk driver hit a police vehicle on Sunday morning injuring two LA Police Department officers and heavily damaged their vehicle. Other vehicles parked nearby were also affected in the collision before the driver's car rolled to its side.
