Hundreds of demonstrators descended upon the streets of Maryville, a small town in Missouri, on Tuesday night, as protesters showed support to Daisy Coleman, an alleged rape victim, which had been shunned and literally kicked out of her community. The rape case, which has recently been reopened, has received national attention over the past week, after details about the incident were published in the Kansas City Star, in addition to the alleged victim and her mother began talking to the media.
The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) issued an alert to consumers about illnesses and deaths likely attributed to jerky treats from China, which has left left approximately 580 dogs and cats dead and sickened more than 3,600 since 2007, Fox News reported. The FDA used the opportunity to put out a call to pet owners to assist in gathering information about its cause.
A 14-year-old student at Danvers High School faces a murder charge in the death of a 24-year-old math teacher whose body was found in the woods behind the school, The Associated Press reported. Coleen Ritzer, of Andover,Massachusetts, was found in a wooded area near the high school, and the teenager will be arraigned on a murder charge, according to Essex District Jonathan Blodgett.
