The Regional Task Force surrounded an Imperial Beach California house on Thursday where an attempted murder suspect was hiding, Fox2Now reported. The task forces surrounded the home of 34-year-old Ramiro Espinoza, who has been billed as one of San Diego Sheriff's Department's most wanted men. He barricaded himself and then began a standoff with police, one detective said.

After about an eight-hour SWAT standoff that forced dozens of residents from their homes, Espinoza was arrested.

The incident began on Thursday early evening at about 5 p.m. when a deputy responded to a report of gunfire in the area.

Deputies had set up a perimeter in an area that included 22 homes, which were evacuated and searched one-by-one. Displaced residents were invited to go to nearby Mar Vista High School, where the Red Cross set up a temporary shelter, news reports said.

Espinoza had been wanted on suspicion of attempted murder, domestic violence, felony assault and being a felon in possession of a weapon. He has a rap sheet which includes possesion of narcotics and domestic violence. He has recently been involved in a series of violent domestic crimes in multiple areas of the county, news reports said.
