Possibly up to three gunmen, with at least two dressed in military-style clothing killed twelve people, while wounding at least five others, according to DC Police Chief Cathy Lanier in a mass shooting spree at the U.S. Navy Yard on Monday.
52-year-old James Kalpakis, a disbarred Long Island attorney, pleaded guilty to swindling real estate clients to more than 4.3 million, New York Law Journal reported. Kalpakis reportedly agreed to a term sentence up to 10 years in prison when he is due to be sentenced on December 3
An Indian court sentenced four men to the death penalty for the gang rape and murder of a student in the capital New Dehli. The four men were all found guilty on all counts earlier this week, in a case which led to violent protests throughout India. New laws against rape were also implemented due to the protests.
California's legislature approved a bill that will boost the state's minimum wage to $10 an hour by 2016. Governor Jerry Brown said he would sign the measure, which is expected to raise the current $8 minimum wage to $9 an hour next July and $10 by January 1, 2016.
