"James Bond" will return to the big screen with a villain that has been familiar among 007 fans: Blofeld!
Mail Online reported that the upcoming franchise, "Bond 24," will show the famous English gunman face his most feared nemesis, Ernst Stavro Blofeld, 30 years after they last dueled each other.
According to the site, a source revealed that the character will be played by 58-year-old Christopher Waltz.
"Christopher Waltz is playing Blofeld in the next Bond film. The tone of the 007 films has changed significantly in recent years and the producers have changed the character to fit in with the new-look 007," spilled an insider to the site.
The "Django Unchained" star and double Oscar winner will join the group of A-list stars who previously portrayed the role: Donald Pleasence in "You Only Live Twice" in 1967, Telly Savalas in 1969's "On Her Majesty's Secret Service," and British actor Charles Gray in "Diamonds Are Forever" in 1971.
The villain, who was known for his trademark white cat, was last seen in the Bond film "For Your Eyes Only" in 1981.
However, there has been no official confirmation about Waltz's role in the film and the return of Blofeld as Bond's adversary.
Meanwhile, the 24th James Bond movie will reportedly start shooting in a few weeks at Pinewood Shepperton outside of London.
Apart from this, some scenes in the film will also be set in "The Eternal City," Rome. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Italian news agency ANSA reported that three key action scenes will be filmed in the area.
"Several nighttime high-speed car chases are planned through the historical center's narrow, winding streets as well as on main thoroughfare Corso Vittorio Emanuele II, with one car ending up in the Tibur River," the news agency reported.
"Skyfall" director Sam Mendes will be returning for "Bond 24" while Daniel Craig will also be coming back in his fourth portrayal of the legendary James Bond.
"Bond 24" is reportedly slated to hit theaters in the late part of 2015.
