An all-new cast will be gracing the second season of HBO's "True Detective." This is following the news that season 1 star Matthew McConaughey will not be returning for the second season of the television series.
In an interview with Mirror, the actor had revealed his reason for turning down season 2 despite the successful run of season 1. According to him, he holds no regrets for his decision.
"I don't regret saying no to a second season. I spent five or six months working on the show and that was just fine. It had a beginning, a middle and an end for me and I don't know where it would have gone from there," said McConaughey.
"I am someone who likes to do different things and I would have never done it if I would have had to sign on for a guaranteed three seasons. I simply wouldn't have done it. But I'm excited about the new cast of Colin and Vince," revealed the "Dallas Buyers Club" star.
With McConaughey gone, the cast will now be led by Colin Farrell, Vince Vaughn, and Taylor Kitsch. The three will be portraying the three male lead roles in "True Detective" season 2.
However, the remaining cast is yet to be finalized by the show producers. Breathecast reported that the show creators have yet to give a confirmation on who will be playing the female lead.
Rumors have been circulating that Rachel McAdams may be cast for the female lead role. According to the site, "The Notebook" actress may be signed in to play the character of Ani Bezzerides, a Californian sheriff who has been suffering from alcohol and gambling problems.
No confirmation, however, has been announced by McAdams or the "True Detective" creators.
As the cast is yet to be completed, reports are now suggesting that the filming for the second season has been postponed. Instead of the initial scheduled premiere in the summer of 2015, Breathecast reported of the possibility that it may be moved to May or June.
