Former "The Young and the Restless" star Michael Muhney has finally spoken up about rumors surrounding his firing from the television series.
Muhney was fired from the show after he allegedly groped his co-star, Hunter King, while on the set last December. He was also reportedly bullying and backstabbing other cast members.
Nine months after, the actor addressed the issue for the first time, denying the allegations that were thrown at him.
"First of all, there is no one anywhere, of any official capacity, who ever made any of those allegations. If there were, I would be the first person to come out and say, 'Hey, now, I've got to take you to court because what you've just said is lies and I have to sue you for libel and slander,'" the actor told TV Week Soap Extra as per report by Enstarz.
According to Mail Online, he explained that he had not planned to work on the show for more than five years. He was also stressing himself out as he was becoming more involved with the character, causing tension to build up between him and the producers of "The Young and the Restless."
"I remember sitting down in the final ten months of my tenure with the executive producer and saying: 'Things have to change. You guys are going to have to fire me or I'm going to have to quit.' I told them that several times," Muhney shared.
However, this was not the first time that Muhney was accused of such demeanor as he was also fired from TV show "Veronica Mars" allegedly due to the same antics.
Nevertheless, the actor believes that these accusations were made in order to tarnish his reputation. Muhney revealed that a producer once told him to be careful as he is a bright talent and that he had a target on his back.
Meanwhile, Justin Harley will be taking over the role of Muhney as Adam Newman. The series is set to begin a new season this November.
