"We are officially done with the new Foo Fighters album. 23 straight days mixing! IT'S EPIC!!!" record producer Butch Vig tweeted last July 29.The new Foo Fighters record is a follow up to their 2011 release, Wasting Light and 2014 will most likely be a busy year for the rock band.
Breathcast speculated that while there is still no official album title, fans will probably hear word from the band once they decide on a name. Supporters of the band can also expect to see a concert tour to promote the upcoming Foo Fighters release. It also added that while there are no specifics yet about the concert tour to support the newly completed album, a 2014 tour has long been planned. The new album is expected to be released in November through Foo Fighters' own Roswell Records via RCA.
In addition to the upcoming album, the band recorded the upcoming LP in eight legendary studios across the United States, including Chicago, Nashville, Los Angeles, Seattle, New Orleans, Washington D.C., and New York, which will come out in the upcoming HBO series entitled, Sonic Highways, SPIN reported.
SPIN added that Sonic Highways will follow Grohl and Foo Fighters band members, Nate Mendel, Pat Smear, Taylor Hawkins, and Chris Shiflett as they travel to those legendary studios to record songs, all of which will appear on the next album.
Moreover, the series will include musicians from those cities including Gary Clark Jr., Eagles' Joe Walsh, and Cheap Trick's Nick Nielsen. Grohl also hinted at appearances by Carrie Underwood, Public Enemy's Chuck D, and Butthole Surfers' Gibby Haynes, Consequence of Sound wrote.
In addition to these, SPIN also reported that the Foo Fighters already have confirmed dates in the United Kingdom and South Africa, as well as an appearance at the Life is Beautiful festival in Las Vegas this fall.
Meanwhile, the official Facebook page of the Foo Fighters told its fans to watch out this Monday for some "big news." The page also plugged a brand new online merch store.
