Chris Brown returns with surprise 'Loyal' performance at 2014 BET Awards

The world seemed to have missed Chris Brown more as a world-class artist rather than a celebrity who has too many run-ins with the law. On Sunday, the 2014 BET Awards gave his fans and much of the music industry a real treat when he performed his hit single "Loyal" for the first time since he has been released from jail, Billboard reported.

With rappers Lil Wayne and Tyga joining him onstage and Blink 182 drummer Travis Barker providing percussions for Breezy, a red flannel shirt-wearing Brown showed why he is an award-winning performer by showing his vocal finesse and his groovy moves. Bopping, boogying and shaking like the Michael Jackson disciple that he is, Brown reportedly did not disappoint.

Chris Rock, who did hosting duties for the show, could not help make a few quips about Brown's legal drama. HollywoodLife.com said that ahead of Brown's surprise performance, the comedian took advantage to diss the rapper and said, "He just signed a new deal. Too bad it was a plea deal. Give it up for Chris Brown!"

Rock also did not fail making another one after Brown left the stage. Billboard said Rock was quoted saying that Brown seemed to be "dancing like he's free."

On Wednesday last week, Brown rejected a no-jail plea deal to the suspected misdemeanor assault charge filed by a man during a Washington scuffle, Reuters reported. According to his lawyer Mark Geragos, "They wanted him to read from a script that wasn't true. He didn't want to do that, and I didn't want him to do that."

20 year-old Parker Adams has claimed in his lawsuit that Brown and his bodyguard Chris Hollosy punched him and broke his nose when he attempted to include himself in a selfie with Brown and a couple of fans outside a hotel in October last year. Hollosy has since been convicted for his involvement in the altercation, Reuters noted.
