Medical drama 'Grey's Anatomy' will be reaching its 11th season this coming September on ABC. The series ended its season 10 with a mixture of sadness and new life-changing possibilities for its characters. With the departure of Dr. Cristina Yang (Sandra Oh), main lead Meredith Grey (Ellen Pompeo) would return on the show a lonely, broken woman without her person and her husband Dr. Derek Shepherd (Patrick Dempsey) in Washington on a secret mission for the US president.

Creator Shonda Rhimes recently spill the beans on the upcoming season to TVLine reporter Michael Ausiello. On the question about the numerous character arcs happening in the show, Rhimes insisted that the series has always been about Meredith, and the show intends to see to it in the upcoming season.

Rhimes said the drama will focus on how Meredith will put back the pieces of her life after losing her person. Moreover, she will also be seen coming to terms to the fact that she has a half-sister in the person of Margaret Pierce (Kelly McCreary). Also, Meredith is also forced to deal with the fact that her husband is in Washington DC while she remains in Seattle to continue building her already growing reputation as a formidable doctor at Seattle Grace Hospital, testing their already rocky marriage.

Rhimes also said that the show will also not forget the loose ends it needs to tie up after Cristina's departure. It could be recalled in the previous season, Cristina gave Alex (Justin Chambers) her blessing to seize the board spot she left behind. This would complicate matters, considering that Webber (James Pickens Jr) has raised the same idea to Bailey (Chandra Wilson).

On the other hand, a recent promotional video released by ABC shows Rhimes with Pompeo and the two other leading actors of her other shows: Kerry Washington (Olivia Pope) of "Scandal" and Oscar winner Viola Davis (Attorney Annalise Keating) in new crime drama 'How to Get Away with Murder." The Wrap said all three shows would be returning to the small screen on Thursday nights, and is already touted a historic moment considering the fact that ABC is boasting a very powerful lineup in the land of television shows.
