German police are trying to solve the mysterious murder of a best-selling novelist who was found dead on her houseboat.
Alexandra Fröhlich, 58, was found dead in Hamburg by a relative, CNN reported. Authorities shared the following statement: "After a 58-year-old woman was found dead on her houseboat in Hamburg's Moorfleet district on Tuesday morning, the police and public prosecutor's office are now assuming a homicide and are asking for information from the public."
Media reports later identified the woman as Fröhlich. CNN reported that police determined she died "as a result of violence." According to the statement quoted by the network, a dive team was also deployed to the area.
The Guardian cited local reports indicating that Fröhlich was shot and that police are looking into possible suspects. The newspaper noted that she began her career as a journalist in Ukraine and then started a woman's magazine in Kyiv.
Her first novel, "My Russian Mother-in-Law and Other Disasters" was published in 2012 and was inspired by her own experience of having married a Russian citizen. The book was a bestseller and was followed in 2016 with "Death Is A Certainty" which also was successful.
