According to Carter Matt, the finale episode of the third season of A&E's crime series "Longmire" will finally provide fans' answers to some of the show's loose threads. Most importantly, the show will also reveal who really killed the wife of lead protagonist Walt Longmire (Robert Taylor).
The crime drama, which premiered in 2012, is based on the "Walt Longmire Mysteries" series of mystery novels written by author Craig Johnson. The show revolves around county sheriff in Wyoming who returns to work after the death of his beloved wife. The show also stars "24" alum Katee Sackho and "Saving Grace" star Bailey Chase.
The finale episode, titled "Ashes to Ashes," will have fans know whether Longmire accomplished his mission to find his wife's killer. Moreover, the episode will also feature whether Longmire will be able to put his bestfriend Henry Standing Bear's (Lou Diamond Philips) case to rest. It could be recalled that Henry has been accused of killing the man suspected of killing Longmire's wife. Henry has since been arrested and sent to prison over murder charges, TVLine reported.
Also, in the episode, Carter Matt hinted that Deputy Branch Connaly (Chase), will be suspended. As Branch has somewhat morphed into Season 3's primary antagonist, the blogger said that it was time for Longmire to sanction his deputy.
On the other hand, there is no word yet on whether "Longmire" will be extended for another season. Given the fact that the show will end in the next two weeks, it was unusually odd for show producers to not make any announcements on whether the A&E series would continue. Sackoff, who plays newcomer Deputy Victoria "Vic" Moretti, was unusually quiet about the show's future down the road. However, she did spill about the future between Longmire and her character.
In an interview with Zap2It, she talked about the progress between the romance brewing between Vic and Longmire and said, "It's that 'Moonlighting' thing, in the sense that people are expecting it and you hold it back and hold it back -- and when it finally happens, you have to come up with different stakes, because you've already played your hand creatively. It's not even a question of 'if,' because it's in the 'Longmire' books (by Craig Johnson), but it's more 'when' and 'how' and if it's going to work."
The final week of "Longmire" Season 3 will air Monday at 10:00 pm on A&E.
