Futuristic science-fiction movie "Terminiator 5" is set to return onscreen by next year.
The fifth installment, titled "Terminator: Genesis," filming last April and is almost done. As it is, new reports reveal hints on the upcoming movie.
Arnold Schwarzenegger will be reprising his role as the iconic T-800. According to Enstarz, the most recent development suggests that the actor is already done filming the majority of his scenes.
The futuristic set is said to be located in Redwood Shores, California because of its futuristic blue skyscrapers, as Cyberdyne Systems, the fictional defense firm, is said to be an important part of the film.
A report by Screenrant revealed that plot details suggest that the newest entry in the franchise is set to go back in time rather than forward. It appears that the fifth installment may not be just a mere reboot, as the T-800 character will be revisiting events that have happened in the earlier instalments.
In a talk with MTV, Arnold revealed that there will be two T-800's since there will be time travel involved. "Terminator deals a lot with time travel, so there will be a younger T-800," Schwarzenegger said, "and then what that model does later on when it gets reprogrammed, and who gets ahold of him. So it will be all kinds of interesting twists in the movie, but I feel so good."
It was also announced that new actors will be added to the cast. Douglas Smith will be portraying the young John Connor, while the older Connor will be played by Jason Clarke.
The role of Miles Dyson, founder of Cyberdyne, will be played by Courtney B. Vance. The character was originally played by Joe Morton in "Terminator 2: Judgment Day." Other characters include Jai Courtney as "Kyle Reese," Dayo Okeniyi as "Danny Dyson," and Aaron Williamson as a "T-800." Byung-hung Lee, J.K. Simmons, Matt Smith, and Sandrine Holt will also be joining the cast.
The movie is being directed by Alan Taylor. "Terminator: Genesis" is scheduled for release on July 2015.
