'Amazing Race' Season 25 Spoilers: Meet the teams who are racing for the million-dollar cash prize

By

Talk about one epic journey to the next! Now on its 25th season, "The Amazing Race" launches to another adventure designed to test its contestants' endurance, smarts and even their luck. In the latest season of the reality competition series, eleven teams will be vying for the grand prize of one million dollars.

The Emmy Award winning series, hosted by Phil Keoghan, kicked off at Times Square in New York City and started the race on May 31. At the CBS Press Tour Red Carpet, Keoghan said, "There's so many places left to go. You know, by the time we get around to the whole world, we'll be ready for space exploration. I think we've been to over a hundred countries, and there's about 160 around the world, depending on who's counting. But there's still a lot to see. We have not been to Nepal, we haven't been to Antarctica - there's so many places we haven't gone."

Koeghan also said that the show did something cool to start off the race. He said that they invited fans to come to the start of the race in Times Square at 3AM via social media. He shared that fans came down to support the teams as they were running away to start the race and opening it to the public was something they've never done before. He also added that he hoped they did more things like that in the future.

Since crossovers are steadily becoming the norm, Season 25 of "The Amazing Race" will have fans do a lot of double takes. The latest season will feature some familiar faces from "Survivor: South Pacific," Whitney Duncan, who also appeared in Season 5 of "Nashville Star," and fiancé Keith Tollefson. "Soul surfer" Bethany Hamilton and her husband Adam Dirks are also set to compete in the race, Celeb Dirty Laundry reported. Hamilton became famous as a multi-awarded surfer and is known for getting attacked by a 14-foot tiger shark in Kauai's North Shore, where Hamilton lost her arm.

Joining the other two teams are nine others as they race around the world for the cash prize:

  • Kym Perfetto and Alli Forsythe, Urban Bike Racers from Brooklyn, New York
  • Amy DeJong and Maya Warren, Food Scientists from Madison, Wisconsin
  • Lisa Thomson and Michelle Thomson, Realtor Sisters from Miami, Florida
  • Michael Ward and Scott Strazzullo, Firefighters from Boston, Massachussetts
  • rooke Adams and Robbie E. Strauss, Dating Pro Wrestlers from Houston, Texas and Woodbridge, New Jersey
  • Tim Tsao and Te Jay McGrath, College Sweethearts from Pasadena, California
  • Isabelle Du and Dennis Hour, Model and Accountant from Tustin, California
  • Misti and Jim Raman, Married Dentists from Columbia, South Carolina
  • Shelly and Nici Porter, Mother/Daughter from Detroit, Michigan

The 25th edition of The Amazing Race will premiere on a new night, Friday, September 26, at 8 PM on CBS.
