Brazil blames Mick Jagger jinx over 7-1 World Cup defeat against Germany

By

The Rolling Stones might need to skip Brazil as one of their concert tour stops for a while. According to Buzzfeed, Brazil fans have shifted the blame of their country's loss against the Germans during the World Cup semifinals match in Belo Horizonte. Jagger was spotted attending the event alongside a few of his friends in the VIP section of the Brazilian side of the Mineirao stadium.

Early in the match, fans were seen flashing anti-Jagger material, with one of him wearing the official jersey of Germany and a bubblehead with the words "Let's Go Germany!!!"

It was widely believed by football fans that Jagger has some sort of a curse whenever he pledges allegiance to a certain soccer team, Buzzfeed said. This has been backed with an unfortunate history of him supporting the wrong team in the World Cup. Back at one of his band's concerts, the aging rock star had declared that Portugal will be winning this year's tournament. The Cristiano Ronaldo-led tournament did not make it pass the group stages. When he was in Rome, Buzzfeed said Jagger disclosed to fans that Italy will be beating Uruguay in its crucial group match and advance. However, Italy had folded and were eliminated in the tournament.

Jagger posters showing him wearing opponent colors were prevalent during crucial matches at the World Cup, the viral news site observed, with fans, primarily the ones supporting Brazil, hoping that the Jagger "curse" would take effect.

After the stunning loss, Brazilian news network R7 branded Jagger as the "biggest jinx in history." The branding had prompted Jagger's former partner, Brazilian Luciana Giminez, to make a public request on Instagram to stop abusing the father of her teenage son.

This was not the first time Jagger has been blamed by Brazilians for its failed attempt to win a World Cup match. In the previous tournament, Buzzfeed said fans had blamed Jagger for the team's defeat against the Dutch in the quarterfinals for simply donning a Brazil shirt.
