As the manhunt for alleged highway shooter Joseph Couch approaches the two-week mark, police are revealing necessary adjustments to search for the dangerous Highway 75 shooter.

Governor Andy Beshear and Kentucky law enforcement leaders held a press briefing to update the public on Tuesday, marking the 11th day of the search for Couch.

Beshear stated they are readjusting the deployment of resources into the community because it provides a "better public safety outcome" rather than continuing the manhunt at current levels, according to WKYT.

"We are reallocating resources because we believe it is necessary," the governor said.

More than 400 tips have allegedly been submitted to law enforcement; however, most have been outside the Daniel Boone National Forest, where 28,000 acres of the forest have already been combed through.

While the search will continue, authorities said it will look different moving forward and include more security at community and school events.

Laurel County students returned to the classroom Tuesday for the first time since the shooting, with additional security in place.

"This is definitely not the normal Laurel County that we're used to," said Laurel County Sheriff John Root. He says patrol efforts will continue around the community to prioritize safety while trying to bring a sense of normalcy.

Couch opened fire on September 7 in Laurel County on I-75. Five people were shot and survived.
