Jalisa Hill, arrested Thursday for allegedly paying her ex-boyfriend $1,000 to murder her grandparents, faced a Florida bond court Friday as police detailed her role in the brutal crime.

Hill's former boyfriend, Maurice Anthony Newson, was arrested two weeks ago on first-degree murder charges in the slayings of Major and Claudette Melvin.

The 80-year-old couple were found shot to death in their Fort Lauderdale, and their vehicle was reported missing on March 22.

According to court documents obtained by Local10 News, Hill had told police during questioning that she was in line to inherit her grandparents' home.

Authorities revealed Hill had filed an insurance claim for her grandparents' stolen car without disclosing that they were dead.

She also sent Newson $1,000 on April 27 through an intermediary.

Dennis Parker, one of the couple's children, said he had predicted Newson was "going to sing like a mockingbird" following his August arrest.

In an interview with Local 10 News on Friday, he reacted to Hill's arrest.

"I'm going to stand in the gap for my mom and dad, OK?" Parker said.

"If you had anything to do with it, like I said, I want you to rot in hell."

Hill is currently being held without bond.
