Chris Brown's Washington assault trial set on Monday

By

Actor and rapper Chris Brown has showed up on Friday in a Washington courtroom ahead of the start of his trial today, USA Today reported. Wearing a suit and a tie, Brown waved and gave a salute to supporters in the courtroom, which included his mother and fellow rapper Bow Wow. Brown's hearing on Monday will be his most significant yet as it will be determine whether he will be serving additional jail time apart from the sentence he received from an earlier case back in California.

USA Today said Brown allegedly attacked a man along with his bodyguard after the man tried to get into a selfie with him and two female fans. At the time of the attack in Washington, Brown was on probation stemming from a 2009 case wherein he had assaulted his then-girlfriend Rihanna.

Following his arrest in Washington, Brown had enrolled in anger management classes at a California facility. However, USA Today said he was dismissed early due to violations he had committed while being a patient. He instead was incarcerated and has been in custody since then.

DC Superior Court Judge Patricia Wynn was expected to hand out her verdict on the misdemeanor charge filed against Brown's body, Christopher Hollosy, but decided to delay it also until Monday.

According to Hollosy's statement with the attending police at the time of the incident, he had punched Parker Adams after the latter had tried to board the star's tour bus. Adams, on the other hand, refuted Hollosy's statement and said Hollosy attacked him following the former's exchange of words with Brown. Brown has since denied claims that he had hit Adams, USA Today said.

Although Hollosy did not give any testimony at his own trial, which started on Thursday, he is expected to provide one at Brown's trial and tell the court that he, and not his boss, had hit Adams.
