A Texas teen who allegedly fatally shot a man during a botched drug deal is now staring down a capital murder charge after authorities uncovered crucial 'new discoveries' which include surveillance footage.

Angel Sanchez, 17, allegedly shot a man in the back and neck multiple times on August 10 at a residence in Brownsville, Texas.

Investigators found that the victim was coordinating a narcotics deal when Sanchez demanded the victim give him the money and narcotics.

"After new discoveries in the Investigation, the charges against the suspect Angel Sanchez, were upgraded to Capital Murder," the Cameron County Sheriff's Office revealed.

"The victim attempted to calm the suspect down but was consequently shot in the back," the office also stated Tuesday.

Neighborhood surveillance footage reportedly captures Sanchez leaving the scene.

"Sheriff Investigators approached Sanchez's residence and saw him setting fire to clothing," the release said.

"Sheriff's investigators detained Sanchez and secured the clothing he set on fire."

Sanchez admitted to the shooting and told authorities he was burning the clothing he wore while committing the crime to stall the investigation.

The teen, now facing capital murder, is currently being held in the Cameron County Carrizales-Rucker Detention Center on $425,000 in bonds.

The deceased man has yet to be identified.
