Teen actress Ariel Winter, whose rise to fame is her role as the smart aleck of a sister and daughter in the hit television series "Modern Family," might not have liked her estranged mother's latest legal steps regarding her sizeable estate. Chrisoula Workman, who had been lodged with claims that she physically and verbally abused the actress, has recently served subpoenas urging the Bank of America, Morgan Stanley Smith Barney, LLC, and City National Bank turn over documents regarding her daughters' finances, Daily Mail said.
In a sad twist of events, the court-appointed overseer of Winter's estate, her father Glenn Workman, has filed three motions in order to block Chrisoula's subpoenas to the banks and claimed that they were over broad, irrelevant, unreasonable and unnecessary, said RadarOnline. Workman was awarded temporary guardianship in December 2012 with Winter remaining under the guardianship of her older sister, Shanelle Gray, based on a court-approved settlement. Reuters said the 34 year-old Gray was awarded guardianship of the actress in October of that year.
The Workman matriarch has since denied the abuse allegations lodged against her. Daily Mail noted that Gray was removed under her mother's care when the former was in her youth due to allegations similar to that filed by Winter.
In the court filings by the Winter's father, he said, "(My ex-wife's actions could) jeopardize (Winter's career and cause her) intimidation, harassment, and abuse. The court is well aware of the harassment that Ms. Workman's involvement in the case has caused the minor. Thus, giving the minor's recent history with Ms. Workman, and Ms. Workman's attempts to hijack the minor's career (harboring the minor's monies against court orders). [Access to her bank records] could intensify Ms. Workman's psychological control over the minor and her career."
The bond of the sisters Winter and Gray shared was evident when the "Mr. Peabody & Sherman" star shared some love for her along with an Instagram post showing the two buying the "Modern Family"'s first case, a $50,000 Mercedes at Keys European in Van Nuys, Daily Mail said.
