"Star Wars" movies and the "Avatar" film franchise will have their very own respective theme parks courtesy of Disneyland. The expansive 14-acre Star Wars land will open on both Disneyland, California and in Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida.
The "Avatar" films theme park on the other hand, will debut on Disney's Animal Kingdom. According to OrlandoSentinel, Disney CEO Bob Iger revealed that the "Avatar" films theme park will be the biggest new land they have opened in Florida in a long time.
The "Avatar" films park is dubbed "The World of Pandora" and it will take visitors to a uniquely designed set-up. Iger mentioned that the theme park's architecture and design is "extremely unique."
"It really does make you feel you're in Pandora", Iger added. The Disney CEO also mentioned that building a theme park based on James Cameron's "Avatar" gives it a lot of potential.
With numerous upcoming "Avatar" films already planned in the following years, Iger believes the interest for the property is only going to grow even more. As for the massive theme park based on the "Star Wars" movies, it will be different from what the fans expect.
According to Polygon, Star Wars Land will feature a place that's never been featured in the "Star Wars" movies. While the theme park is still based on the "Star Wars" lore, the characters and setting will be refreshingly new and different from the films.
Star Wars Land will undoubtedly have an influx of guests when it opens specially when the upcoming film "The Last Jedi" hits theaters on December 15. However, the "Star Wars" movies theme park might take a while since it's targeting for a 2019 opening.
On the other hand, guests can look forward to visiting The World of Pandora much sooner as it opens on May 27 this year. With the "Star Wars" movies and "Avatar" films branching into the world of theme parks, there's now more reasons for guests to plan a trip to Disneyland in the near future.
