"Azure Striker Gunvolt" was a game that came out around three years ago for the Nintendo 3DS and, two years later, on the PC. It was a game that struck up a lot of rumors; one of those games that were only popular to a select few that really followed it up until its release, where it received wide recognition for it's style, gameplay, and its plot. And now, another reason for the hype to grow with this franchise reveals itself as it is announced that an anime about the game will be released some time this year, and it comes with a trailer to boot.
Niche Gamer comes to us with some news about the upcoming anime, but first let us understand why this brings such applause from the fans. In a time where the popular franchise "Mega Man" had been staggering, gamers called out for someone to develop a game that played just as well as the "Mega Man" franchise's older games, specifically, "Mega Man Zero", one of the more acclaimed titles from Capcom's blue bomber franchise. The anime, both dubbed and subbed, will be following the story of the games, where they live in a world where "Adepts", people who possess extraordinary abilities known as "Septimal Powers", exist among the common folk of humanity.
Their existence brings chaos and disorder to the people of Japan, but order and peace is maintained by a conglomerate known as the "Sumeragi Group". While they seem like a good enough solution, it's all a sham, as the group captures Adepts to perform horrid experiments on them. This is where our protagonist, Gunvolt, comes in, belonging to a group known as QUILL that made the discovery of what their evil plans, and sets off to infiltrate the conglomerate for freedom and his fellow Adepts.
Anime News Network claims that the anime will be released on Feb. 9 of this year, coming with both subbed and dubbed versions. The cast will involve all of the other characters with the addition of two others, Moniqa and Zeno. The anime will be released, surprisingly, on the Nintendo 3DS eShop, where each episode will cost $2.99. Though it's not the usual medium for anime to be released, it hasn't stopped gamers from being surprised, and if there was anything "Azure Striker Gunvolt" brought to the playing field, it's that surprises aren't necessarily a bad thing.
