Viewers were left shocked by the recent events in EastEnders. Jay, unknown of Linzi's real age, pleads guilty of child grooming and child pornography after authorities found out some explicit videos and photos of Linzi on his phone.
Things got worse for Jay Brown of 'EastEnders'. After having been arrested over his romance with underage Linzi Bragg (real name Star), the latest episode shows Jay pleading guilty to a charge of child pornography after authorities discovered explicit videos and photos of Liz in an underwear on his phone.
Jay defended himself in court but no one stood up for him. Even the family solicitor Ritchie refused to represent him in court. According to OK!, viewers sympathized with the character as Jay desperately tried to get himself out of the jail. The police interrogated him suggesting that he knew she was minor the whole time.
The episode became more interesting when Phil decided to side with Jay after hearing some harsh words from Shirley Carter. However, Phil quickly changed his mind when Jay pleaded guilty to the charges thrown at him, including a child pornography charge.
Not only that, Jay was beaten up by members of Linzi's family. After the incident, poor Jay finally broke down in front of Ben Mitchell, who is the only person supported Jay as the majority of Walford residents turned their backs on him. According to Digital Spy, Jay learned that he would need to sign the sex offender register and remain on it for 5 years, aside from the community service given to him.
Metro UK reports that many viewers took to social media to broadcast their sentiments and dismay over Jay's pleading guilty. One viewer named Lucy (@Lucy) posted on Twitter that her heart is breaking for Jay as he does not deserve to be in that situation. Lucy also added that it was all Star's fault for not telling the truth. Some viewers had extreme reaction to the events saying that they can no longer watch 'EastEnders' because storyline 'sucks' and very disappointing to see Jay like that.
What was your reaction to that episode? Will Ben's support be enough to keep Jay in Walford? Catch the next episode of 'EastEnders', Thursday night on BBC One.
